Scripture Workbench

A personal instrument for multi-tradition scripture study.

Scripture Workbench is a private, non-commercial study environment built and used by one person. It brings primary texts and translations into a single careful reading experience: the Hebrew Bible read beside its ancient Greek translation, a Gospel read against its manuscript tradition, an English rendering checked against the words underneath it.

What it does

Texts

The bundled library consists of public-domain and permissively licensed editions: the King James Version, World English Bible, American Standard Version, JPS 1917, the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible, the SBL Greek New Testament, the Septuagint (Swete and Brenton), and the Clementine Vulgate, alongside classical commentary and lexica. Modern licensed translations, where included, are accessed online through their publishers’ official APIs, within each publisher’s usage guidelines and with full copyright attribution displayed alongside the text.

What it is not

Scripture Workbench is not a product. It is not distributed on any app store, carries no advertising, collects nothing, and sells nothing. It is one person’s reading desk, built with the conviction that careful tools honor careful texts.
